It's Over

High winds again raised alarm at dawn. Pilots gathered in town and waited to see if the winds would mellow. A group discussed the day the consensus was to not go to launch.

Day 6 Canceled

The day was called at the pilot meeting due to strong winds.

Day 5 Canceled

Pilots went to launch but winds were strong and gusty, and predicted stronger. The day was called.

103.2km Task

A 103.2km downwind task to the north was called, goal was Mina. Over 40 pilots made goal!

Day 3 Canceled

Day 3 was canceled after launch opened due to strong winds.

Day 2 Canceled

Strong winds on launch and in the valley resulted in today's task being canceled after about 20 competitors launched.

ATTENTION ALL COMPETITION PILOTS

We look forward to seeing you in the Owens Valley. Meet Headquarters will be at the Bishop County Fairgrounds on the far North side of town across from Walmart.
The coordinates are N37 22 22.00 W118 23 57.46

Registration will begin in the Patio buidling located at the fairgrounds at 3PM Saturday September 13th, with the pilot meeting being held at the same place at 8:00PM.

There will be camping at the fairgrounds provided by the Organization. There are water and power sites large enough for RV's, as well as dry camping sites available on a first come first serve basis. However there are no showers available, just clean restrooms.

We will have Oxygen available for refill at headquarters throughout the competiton. They are free to all competing pilots.

Registration is scheduled for September 13th at the Tri County Fairgrounds in Bishop, CA. The fairgrounds are located where Hwy 6 and 395 meet. There will be free camping provided by the organization at the fairgrounds, with full hookups or just water and power. THERE ARE NO SHOWERS AT THE FAIRGROUNDS. There are bathrooms and a river close by, so be prepared for that.

If you prefer a motel, both the Comfort Inn and the Vagabond Inn are just down the street from headquarters, with lots of other motels close by. Visit http://www.bishopvisitor.com/ for more local info.
